The Powertek MV Flexible Rogowski Coil is designed for accurate and non-intrusive measurement of AC current in medium-voltage electrical systems. Its flexible, air-core construction allows the coil to be installed around conductors where conventional current transformers may be difficult to fit due to space, conductor size or installation constraints. Designed for medium-voltage applications up to 12 kV, the Rogowski coil provides Class 0.5 accuracy in accordance with IEC 61869-10, with low phase displacement and minimal measurement error caused by conductor position. The air-core design also eliminates magnetic saturation and provides a wide dynamic range, making the sensor suitable for applications ranging from relatively low currents to several thousand amperes.
The coil is available in different window sizes to accommodate a range of conductor and busbar dimensions. The MV Series incorporates an integrated endcap in which both ends of the flexible sensing loop meet within a single housing, providing a compact and straightforward connection arrangement. With IP67 protection and UV-resistant construction, the MV Flexible Rogowski Coil is suitable for demanding indoor and outdoor environments. Its low weight and flexible construction make it particularly useful where the installation of conventional CTs would be impractical.
The Rogowski coil produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of current and therefore requires an electronic integrator to provide phase compensation and frequency equalisation. Integrators can be supplied separately to suit the measurement system.
